JazzArts Charlotte Announces Spring Online Programs for Youth & Adults After Successful Fall Launch
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – December 2020 – JazzArts Charlotte is excited to announce a second session of online jazz workshops to provide youth and adults new opportunities to develop their musical skills, beginning the end of January 2021.
The 6 to 12-week online workshops cover topics ranging from Jazz Appreciation to special focus on jazz drumming, vocals, and guitar. Students of all ages will be offered a variety of jazz courses, taught by the area’s finest jazz instructors.
“I really didn’t realize how much it would actually enrich my life right now,” ~ Fall 2020 academy student
The online youth workshops for middle and high school students will currently replace JazzArts Charlotte’s pre-pandemic in-person year-round program. “Music is an important creative outlet. We are committed to offer that opportunity in whatever way makes sense”, says Lonnie Davis, CEO and President of JazzArts Charlotte.
The adult jazz workshops were a significant new addition to the overall program. Adult jazz fans often have experience on an instrument from their school days, but there are few outlets to continue that interest. “It has been exciting watching people dust off those forgotten instruments and bring back the joy of music to their lives.” Says Lonnie.
Spring session tuition ranges from $100- $250. First-come, first serve financial aid scholarships available (up to 90% of the tuition cost) on a need-based sliding scale. “It is important that these music programs are accessible to all students. Financial aid scholarships help to remove the barriers.” says Lonnie Davis.
Registration is open through January 26. For more information about workshops and available scholarships, visit www.thejazzarts.org/education , or email info@theJazzArts.org.
