An all-female congregation of world-class instrumentalists brings the swing for a three-day JAZZ ROOM residency, in celebration of Women’s History Month.
FEATURING
Ellen Rowe, piano & bandleader
Francesca Remigi, drums (last minute replacement for Allison Miller, due to illness)
Marion Hayden, bass
Sharel Cassity, saxophone
The JAZZ ROOM provides a casual and intimate setting reminiscent of the classic jazz rooms of yesteryear.
This evening we celebrate the females that are instrumental in jazz historically and today. Women like Mary Lou Williams, Alice Coltrane, and Melba Liston have been incredibly influential in the development of jazz, whether ghostwriter behind the scene or trailblazer despite it. Some were recognized in their own time, but others only discovered later. This is a unique opportunity to hear a full ensemble of all-star female jazz musicians from the region and beyond, and to celebrate the unique joy and energy they bring to the music.
