Tatiana Eva-Marie spends an hour speaking to us about the world of gypsy jazz from her perspective. She will share her knowledge of its history and the ways she feels the roots of this music are as important today as when it was created.
Gypsy jazz is a style of music begun in France in the 1920s, coming out of WWI, as a much-needed expression of joy and celebration. This JAZZ ROOM weekend of music and conversation pay tribute to one of the fathers of the music, Django Reinhardt.
“The gypsy jazz warbler” – New York Times describes rising jazz star Tatiana Eva-Marie.
Tatiana Eva-Marie’s singing is inspired by her own French and Gypsy heritage; a love for the Parisian art scene of the 1920s through the 60s; a fascination for New Orleans Jazz; and a deep connection to the Great American Songbook. In conjunction with this month’s JAZZ ROOM, Tatiana Eva-Marie Sings Django’s Caravan shares with Charlotte her life-long passion and study.
Through free panels, discussions, and workshops, JazzArts Charlotte is committed to bringing nationally acclaimed artists to Charlotte to enhance the experience of the music.
