The JazzArts All-Stars Travel to New Orleans for JEN!
Our JazzArts All-Star Ensemble recently traveled to the Jazz Education Network (JEN) Conference in New Orleans after being selected to perform at the prestigious international conference. In addition to the honor of being a featured conference performer, the group was able to tour New Orleans and learn about the history of the city and its jazz origins from JazzArts Charlotte President and CEO (and JEN Board President), Lonnie Davis. Some of the experiences included visiting Congo Square, New Orleans Jazz Museum, VueOrleans, and a historical bus tour. After a day and a half of sight-seeing, the group immersed themselves in jazz performances, presentations, and lectures for four straight days as a part conference. The ensemble also performed as a participant of the JENerations Jazz Festival and was adjudicated by drummer Sherrie Maricle, who will be featured at The JAZZ ROOM this March. We are so proud of our students who were selected to perform, and it was a life changing experience for all involved! Check out more photos on our Facebook Page.
